    Position Title:  President and Chief Executive Officer

    Reports to:  Board of Directors

    Job Summary:

    The President and Chief Executive Officer has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Tulsa Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (TAHCC) staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. This position is the primary contact for the organization’s board of directors, community business leaders, elected officials, and strategic partners.

    Responsibilities:

     

    Leadership and Management:

           Maintain and support a strong board of directors.  Seek and build board involvement to develop strategic goals and ensure the execution of TAHCC’s vision and mission.

           Partner with the Board of Directors and the leadership team to develop organizational goals and develop strategies to ensure the goals are achieved.

           Build and develop TAHCC’s employees to ensure they are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational results.

           Assess TAHCC’s ability to implement strategic goals and identify gaps in systems and staffing. Directly supervise management positions and establish individual goals. 

           Ensure that TAHCC’s goals of inclusiveness and diversity among staff and volunteers are met.

           Ensure that TAHCC complies with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

     

    Community Impact and Advocacy:

           Serve as the face of TAHCC, actively participating in community-related events and networking with the public and potential members. 

           Establish partnerships with the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers of surrounding communities to position TAHCC as the leading organization advocating for and serving Hispanic businesses.

           Establish and build relationships with leaders in the community, including local, regional, and state partners.

           Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the business community, including non-profit organizations, as well as economic and political changes that affect the business community.

           Lead a strategic planning process that effectively positions TAHCC to deal with emerging and changing business trends and needs. 

           Identify and cultivate partner organizations locally, regionally, and nationally for mutual program benefit.

           Anticipate the political, social, and economic issues affecting the TAHCC business community.  Recommend appropriate action to government agencies, Chamber membership, strategic partners, and the public.

     

    Fundraising and Membership:

           Lead TAHCC’s fundraising efforts.  Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and critical leaders of prospective new corporate partners.  Leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships in fundraising opportunities.

           Promote a fundraising culture in the organization at the staff and board level.

           Coordinate the grant writing and grant application processes.

           Work with the Membership Committee to develop programs and processes to increase TAHCC membership.

           Partner with the Marketing and Events Committee to improve current membership programs and create new events and marketing tools to increase membership.

           Develop value-added programs for TAHCC members to increase new membership and improve membership retention.

           Lead the Marketing and Events Committee in creating, developing, and distributing internal and external communications designed to improve and increase membership and fundraising.

     

    Financial Management:

           Manage organizational spending, monitor budget compliance, and mitigate financial risks.

           Implement the Board-approved strategic plan forTAHCC’s operating budget and fundraising activities.

           Coordinate with the Board of Directors to develop and maintain a short-term and annual budget. Keep the Board of Directors informed of the organization's financial stability through monthly financial reports and any additional communications as needed.

           Develop and maintain procedures for collecting membership dues, event sponsorships, and publication advertising.

     

    Experience/Position Requirements:

           Advanced degree, preferably an MBA, with at least five years of experience working in a non-profit and/or entrepreneurship sector.

           Experience in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performing teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.

           Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.

           A demonstrated track record of promoting diversity and an ability to build collaboration with the community at large.

           Experience in developing partnerships, building teams, and conflict management.

           Experience in building revenue and increasing philanthropic support.

           Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

           Fluent in English and Spanish is preferred.

           Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

           Familiarity or willingness to learn with software and applications that facilitate communications, marketing, project management, client and donor relationships, and collaboration, such as Google Workspace, SharePoint, Slack, MS Teams, HubSpot, Wild Apricot, QuickBooks, Asana, GiveButter, etc.

           Proficient in MS 365 Business Suite; able to utilize spreadsheets, word processors, and publishing software such as Canva and Adobe Acrobat DC.

           Frequent travel, locally and out of town, is required using a personal vehicle. 

           A valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required along with proof of current automobile insurance.

     

    Work Environment:

           Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

           Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.

           This position requires working in person at an office in Tulsa.

           This is not a remote or hybrid position.

           Normal business hours are Monday-Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
